Main theme

The workshop ‘Neonatal procedural skill training’ focuses on acquisition and refinement of essential competencies in airway management, vascular access, and emergency interventions for newborns. In combination with a knowledge based online module provided beforehand to all participatns, the aim of this workshop is to equip participants with essential skills by hands-on training for safe and evidence-based practice in the emergency care of the sick neonate. The workshop is designed for physicians and nurses working in a neonatal setting.  

Course objectives

• European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guideline 2025 on Newborn Life Support
• Airway management including video laryngoscopy
• Vascular access management  
• Emergency interventions for newborns

Workshop programme

Online prior to CEPAS 2026	Online module provided beforehand at least 4 weeks before the congress via the ESN online learning platform to all participants, which is structured in basic knowledge, various case scenarios and a final assessment.
Onsite 3h skills lab	Skills lab with various training stations for practising airway management, vascular access and different interventions for newborns
