Main theme
The workshop ‘Neonatal procedural skill training’ focuses on acquisition and refinement of essential competencies in airway management, vascular access, and emergency interventions for newborns. In combination with a knowledge based online module provided beforehand to all participatns, the aim of this workshop is to equip participants with essential skills by hands-on training for safe and evidence-based practice in the emergency care of the sick neonate. The workshop is designed for physicians and nurses working in a neonatal setting.
Course objectives
- European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guideline 2025 on Newborn Life Support
- Airway management including video laryngoscopy
- Vascular access management
- Emergency interventions for newborns
Workshop programme
| Online prior to CEPAS 2026 | Online module provided beforehand at least 4 weeks before the congress via the ESN online learning platform to all participants, which is structured in basic knowledge, various case scenarios and a final assessment. |

Home phototherapy

Main theme
Home phototherapy offers a safe and family-centered alternative to hospital-based treatment for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia when implemented under strict clinical supervision. Recent data demonstrates its feasibility and safety, whereas data on cost-effectiveness within structured care pathways are promising.
To expand this approach, a harmonized training and implementation framework is essential to ensure uniform standards and equitable access in different health care settings.
Course objectives
- Develop a checklist that you would design with your practice in your setting
- Identify resources pertinent to your practice
- Implement your “prescription” to a clinical case simulation

Course objectives
Neonatal Neurocritical Care has been recognised as an important aspect of ensuring every baby cared for in neonatal units not only survive but thrive. In North America, formally accredited neurocritical subspecialty programmes have been developed to ensure strong foundation in focussed brain care in all infants in the NICU. This workshop takes a multidisciplinary approach to optimising, detecting and supporting vulnerable infants who are at risk of brain injury.
