EAP Young Investigator Award

Purpose

This award is presented to promising early-career investigators for outstanding work presented at the Congress.

Eligibility

  • Abstracts must be based on research concerning general paediatrics or primary care paediatrics.
  • Content of the abstract must represent original work.
  • Abstract has to be accepted by the Scientific Committee.
  • Request for consideration must be made on the abstract form at the time of submission.
  • The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant.
  • The abstract presenter must be a paediatric researcher under the age of 35. (ID required)

Requests that do not conform to above terms will automatically be declined.

Application proccess

  • The presenter has to apply for the award at the time of the abstract submission
  • The presenter has to provide a CV and proof of age

Award Presentation

  • The award is granted at the discretion of the scientific committee.
  • The winner will be announced during the Closing Ceremony in Lyon
  • The winner receives a certificate and EUR 1.000,00.

ESPR Awards

Authors may apply for the ESPR Early Career Investigator Prize and the Bengt Robertson Award. An author may apply for both awards provided two different abstracts are submitted (one for each).

ESPR Bengt Robertson Award

The Bengt Robertson awardee will present his/her abstract during the designated Bengt Robertson Award session and will receive a certificate confirming his/her prize.

Requirements

  • Abstracts must be on research concerning the neonatal lung.
  • The content of the abstract must be original work.
  • The applicant must be an ESPR member.
  • Presenting authors must be under 36 years of age. Applicants >36 years of age, for example due to maternity leave, serious illness or differences in the timeline of their degree, will be considered on an individual basis if the content of the abstract relates to work from a primary postgraduate degree (MD/PhD), completed within 2 years of application for the Bengt Robertson Award.
  • The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant.

The awardee will be informed in advance and must confirm his/her attendance of the congress. Evaluation criteria will be based on the content and structure of the abstract.

Prize

  • Complimentary registration to the next ESPR Annual Meeting
  • The amount may vary. To be paid by the ESPR directly.

ESPR Early Career Investigator Prize

Up to four applicants will be selected to present their work during the ESPR ECI-Prize Session. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the ESPR committee following presentations. The decisions made are final. Winners will be announced during the congress closing ceremony and will be presented with a certificate.

Requirements

  • The applicant must be an ESPR member.
  • Applicants must be under 36 years of age. Applicants >36 years of age, for example due to maternity leave, serious illness or differences in the timeline of their degree, will be considered on an individual basis if the content of the abstract relates to work from a primary postgraduate degree (MD/PhD), completed within 2 years of application for the Early Career Investigator Award.
  • ­Applicants will not be considered where the content of the abstract relates to work from postdoctoral research work.
  • ­The content of the abstract must represent original work and cannot be presented and/or published previously.
  • ­The name of the presenting author MUST match the name of the applicant.

Evaluation criteria

  • ­Scientific content.
  • ­Structure of the abstract.
  • ­Presentation skills.
  • ­Ability to defend results during a Q&A session.
